چکیده

Methods 30 males (22.5 yrs; 81.1 kg) ingested either leucine (60 mg/kg/bw), BCAA (120 mg/kg/bw), or placebo. Supplementation was ingested at 3 time points (1/3 of the total dosage at each time point): 30 minutes prior to RE, and immediately preand post-RE. The subjects performed 4 sets of leg press and leg extension at 80% 1 RM to failure. Rest periods between sets and exercises were approx. 150 seconds. Muscle biopsies (via the Bergstrom technique) were obtained from the vastus lateralis at four time points: baseline and 30 min, 2 hrs, and 6 hrs post RE and sampled for MEK1 and ERK1/2 activation (via phosphoELISA kits). Participants were fasted for the duration of the investigational period. Other variables (serum markers and other skeletal muscle proteins) were analyzed as part of a larger investigation, but only MEK1 and ERK1/2 and their activation/phosphorylation state are presented here. Skeletal muscle variables (MEK1 and ERK1/2) were transformed to delta values and analyzed via a 3 (group) × 4 (time points) repeated measures MANOVA. Univariate ANOVAs (Bonferroni adjusted) were conducted as follow-up tests to the MANOVA. Post-hoc tests of the interaction effects demonstrated in the ANOVA were investigated via an independent samples T-test.

The anabolic hormone response to a lower-body resistance exercise bout in conjunction with oral BCAA supplementation

Background BCAAs (leucine, isoleucine, and valine), particularly leucine, activate key enzymes in protein synthesis after physical exercise. Research has demonstrated that BCAAs increase mTOR phosphorylation and activate p70 S6 kinase in human muscle via an Akt-independent pathway. The extent to which BCAAs influence the anabolic hormone response in conjunction with resistance exercise is not w...

The Effect Consumption of Pre-Exercise Branched Chain Amino Acids Consumption With Vitamin E Supplementation on Muscular Damage

Background& purpose: Today, among athletes, the use of amino acid supplements with the aim of reducing muscle injuries is more important than in the past. the aim of this study was to survey the effect of branched chain amino acids (BCAA) consumption before exhaustive exercise along with 1-month vitamin E supplementation on lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and creatine kinase (CK) levels of active f...

Branched-chain amino acids increase p70S6k phosphorylation in human skeletal muscle after resistance exercise.

The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of resistance exercise alone or in combination with oral intake of branched-chain amino acids (BCAA) on phosphorylation of the 70-kDa S6 protein kinase (p70(S6k)) and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK), extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK1/2), and p38 MAPK in skeletal muscle. Seven male subjects performed one session of quadriceps m...

BIOINFORMATIC STUDY ON EFFECT OF XANTHOHUMOL AS BIOACTIVE COMPOUND OF HOP IN THE INHIBITION OF THE MAPK/ERK PATHWAY IN THYROID CANCER

Background: Xanthohumol is one of the main bioactive compounds extracted from the female flowers of the hops plant (Humulus lupulus L), that has been shown in several studies to have anti-cancer effects. The MAPK/ERK pathway is one of the key pathways in the regulation of gene expression, cell growth and survival. The abnormal activation of this pathway leads to the uncontrolled cell proliferati...

Effects of squat exercise and branched-chain amino acid supplementation on plasma free amino acid concentrations in young women.

The present study was conducted to examine alterations in plasma free amino acid concentrations induced by squat exercise and branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) supplementation in young, untrained female subjects. In the morning on the exercise session day, participants ingested drinks containing either BCAA (isoleucine:leucine:valine=1:2.3:1.2) or dextrin (placebo) at 0.1 g/kg body weight 15 min...
